Do you know conflict is less likely to recur when women are involved in peace processes? That's why Nonviolent Peaceforce trains women in Myanmar to protect civilians and create safety for their communities. Women like Myia,* a teacher who was tired of the attacks on her village. She wanted to take action to keep her community safe. Now she supports the peace process in Myanmar through the help of Nonviolent Peaceforce.
She has stepped out of her traditional gender role. She even talks to military commanders about keeping civilians safe. Women like Myia are challenging cultural norms and leading in ways they never thought possible! With more women involved in peace processes, other women are finding courage to step forward too. With hope, |
